Deepika opts for Yuvi and not Dhoni

A lot has been written in the media about the Om Shanti Om star Deepika Padukone and her links with cricketers of Indian cricket team.

First, she was linked with Dhoni, when he participated in a fashion show with her and she was present for one of the Indian matches. Now it seems like the lady has opted for Yuvraj Singh.

Deepika is reportedly left for Australia where the Indian team is currently playing a test series. The expenses for the travel has been paid by Yuvi. Deepika will be celebrating her birthday on January 5th in Australia. Need we say, that it will be in the company of Yuvi ! Earlier, Deepika was seen with Yuvi during his birthday party in December.

Yuvraj Singh was earlier linked to Bollywood actress Kim Sharma. Deepika Padukone has been linked to Ranbir Kapoor previously.

'Mr Sixer' Yuvraj Singh is dating Bollywood's latest heartthrob Deepika Padukone, sources close to the families say.

Yesterday, they were seen together having dinner in a restaurant facing the Sydney Harbour Bridge in Australia.

The sources, however, scotched media reports that the model-turned-actress had been invited to Australia by the cricketer, currently on the tour of Down Under.

Deepika, they insisted, was in Sydney shooting for Yash Raj Films' next venture being directed by Siddharth Anand of Tara Rum Pum fame, in which she is paired opposite Ranbir Kapoor.

A friend of the Padukones said, "Deepika is in Australia in her own capacity and the India-Australia Test match just happens to be taking place around the same time. But one thing is sure - Yuvraj and Deepika are dating each other."

Meanwhile, a source close to the Singh family said on Friday, "The two are very close to each other. In two years' time, if things go well, marriage could be on the cards. But right now, both of them are focused on their respective professions."

Incidentally, Deepika will be celebrating her 22nd birthday today, the crucial fourth day of the ongoing second Test match, and the pair is expected to be together for the occasion.

Deepika attended Yuvraj's birthday party at Enigma, J W Marriott, on December 12 and that was right after the India-Pakistan Test match in Bangalore!

Earlier, Deepika's name had been linked with India's ODI captain, M S Dhoni. He had even invited the actress for the one-off Twenty20 match against Australia in Mumbai last year.

But lately, she has been seen with the dashing southpaw. Deepika attended Yuvraj's birthday party at Enigma, J W Marriott, on December 12 and that was right after the India-Pakistan Test match in Bangalore, where Yuvi struck a crackling 169.

In November, they were also seen together after the last match of the India-Pakistan one-day series.

The southpaw has run up a string of low scores against Ponting's Australia. In fact, he looked both ungainly and out-of-sorts on Friday, and fell cheaply to Brett Lee for a score of 12.

After India had lost the first Test at Melbourne without much of a fight, Indian team manager Lalchand Rajput was quoted in the media saying that senior players were upset over Yuvraj's attitude. The comments were later denied, both by Rajput and the team management.

Deepika cheers Yuvraj in Australia

Deepika Padukone has flown to Australia to cheer 'close friend' Yuvraj Singh [Images] in the ongoing four-match India-Australia Test series.

The Om Shanti Om actress will also celebrate her 22nd birthday on January 5 with the cricketer.

Deepika is expected to spend a month in Australia for the shooting of her Yash Raj film. But the actress left Mumbai two days before the start of her shooting schedule (which will begin on January 7) to spend time with Yuvraj.



"She wanted to cheer him up and also spend quality time with him on her birthday," our source tells Gullu.



Yuvi would definitely need the cheering after his dismal performance against the Aussies, having managed just 17 runs in three innings so far.



Deepika and Yuvraj have been linked up by the media on numerous occasions, though the couple have always mainatined that they are 'good friends.' Before Yuvraj came into the picture, Deepika was paired up with Indian captain M S Dhoni [Images], but she denied that as well.



Deepika's Yash Raj film will costar Ranbir Kapoor [Images], and will be directed by Siddharth Anand (of Salaam Namaste).

Deepika Padukone plays host at Yuvraj’s birthday party

On Wednesday, December 12, actress Deepika Padukone was the centre of attention at the birthday party of cricketer Yuvraj Singh. The party, at Mumbai’s J W Marriott Hotel, was attended by close friends and relatives.

Yuvraj was obviously in a mood to party after proving wrong all the criticism about him at the five-day format of cricket and Deepika was cheekily complementing his mood.

Adds a source, “She mingled with the guests as if she belonged to Yuvraj’s family. The duo looked more than just friends if their body language was any indication.” Is Dhoni listening?

Google in India’s fast lane; Orkut fast rising search query

Indian netizens continued to swoon over Aishwarya Rai making her the most searched for Bollywood celebrity on search engine Google in 2007, even as newcomer Deepika Padukone — who made her Bollywood debut with Om Shanti Om in November — earned a spot in the top 10 list in the category.

According to the first-ever annual ‘Google Zeitgeist’ report for India (indicating the fastest rising and highest volume search terms submitted to Google in the country), the poster girl of Indian tennis Sania Mirza, was the top Sportstar on Google search, and Mahatma Gandhi the ‘most searched for political leader’.

In a reflection of the rising popularity of social networking service amongst Indian online audiences, Orkut emerged at the top of another category titled the “fast-rising search queries”, followed by YouTube and Gmail, respectively. Other terms such as Map, Google, Indian Railways, Yahoo Mail, Technology, Yahoo and Zapak completed the list of top 10 ‘fast rising search queries in 2007’.

“Social networking tops the list, followed closely by other platforms of online communication and interaction,” Google said.
Methodology

Explaining the methodology of hot searches, Google said its ‘Google Zeitgeist’ was calculated by looking at the aggregation of the most popular and fast-rising search queries submitted to Google by Indian users.

“In compiling the 2007 year-end Google Zeitgeist, we studied the aggregation of billions of search queries people from India conducted on Google. To come up with this list, we looked at several thousand of 2007’s most popular searches, and ranked them based on how much their popularity increased compared to 2006.

“For example, Deepika Padukone’s popularity online soared in 2007. We also gave a proportionately higher score to searches with more traffic increase. Separately, we also computed the most popular queries in 2007 by volume,” Google said.

Amongst the Bollywood celebrities, the pecking order saw Salman Khan take the second slot after Aishwarya Rai, followed by Hrithik Roshan, Katrina Kaif, Shahrukh Khan, Mallika Sherawat, Priyanka Chopra, Kareena Kapoor, and Rani Mukherjee.

While Sania Mirza led the list of top 10 sportstars, other most-searched for Sports personalities were Maria Sharapova, Sachin Tendulkar, John Cena, David Beckham, Cristiano Ronaldo, Rahul Dravid, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Sourav Ganguly, and Anna Kournikova.

New Delhi, Dec 19: Earlier it was Team India skipper, Mahendra Singh Dhoni and now his deputy Yuvraj Singh's alleged proximity with the leggy lass Deepika Padukone is doing rounds in the media circles.

OSO hot statement Deepika Padukone is quite fed up with the continuous hype and she has also denied reports about her engagement with Yuvraj.

The actress, who was recently in the capital to endorse Swiss watch brand Tissot, said her alleged engagement with Yuvi was the 'strangest' thing among her alleged link ups.

Deepika, who is the daughter of legendary shuttler Prakash Padukone, said: "I am very closely associated with sports. I have played games like badminton, basketball, tennis, throwball and baseball."

Deepika shies away from the Dhoni name

The gorgeous Deepika Padukone is not comfortable talking about her much hyped guess-if-it-is-true association with the Indian star cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

Speaking at a press meet on Tuesday in Mumbai when quizzed about her relationship with Dhoni she said, "Nothing about it," and clamped up. But the svelte beauty who has become a hit after starring in her first Hindi film Om Shanti Om was quite forthcoming when about her connection with the jeans brand, Levis Strauss Signature for which she has been signed on as the brand ambassador.

"I am at an age when most kids go to college and so I am happy to be associated with a brand that provides such an extensive range of clothing for the urban youth. It's approachable and affordable," said Deepika who was dressed in black jeans teemed with a t-shirt and knee length boots.

Business head, Levis Strauss Signature ATP Ramani impressed with the much sought after model-turned actress' good looks said that Deepika had a great figure, which is essential for a great fit in jeans.

The brand no doubt is targeting the Indian youth. Hoping to lure young buyers to the stores, the company has announced a couple of contests promising the winners an opportunity to meet the elegant beauty.

Mumbai, Dec 4: OSO glamour statement Deepika Padukone is cautious before making any statement on Team India heartthrob Mahendra Singh Dhoni after the alleged 'proximity' between them was covered frantically in media.

On her star status post OSO, Deepika said that she was very happy with the response to the movie and was looking forward to her career.

However, she blushed when put to answer on working with Dhoni in a film. "I don't think he is interested in acting."

"Next question please." Any films/ad/work with Dhoni? A very demure smile, "I don’t think he’s interested in acting."
